Walled Garden

The walled garden is one of the
real gems of Grantham House.

The walled garden is one of the real gems of Grantham House.  The walled garden is a “Parterre” - a formal garden laid out on a level area made up of enclosed beds.  Our Parterre features box hedging and colourful flowerbeds. Parterre gardens became fashionable in England in the 17th Century and had a revival in the 19th century.

In the Victorian period large quantities of bedding plants such as pelargoniums, salviasa and verbenas were planted and we hope very much to replicate this as we develop the space.

The walled gardens are secluded and beautiful, with a wide variety of uses.  Wedding reception location, outdoor concert, private party or simply to sit and relax during one of our open days.
